Ingredients
  • Salted herring - 1-2 pcs. (if you use fillet, then 300 grams)
  • Beets - 2 pieces (350 g)
  • Potatoes - 3 pcs. (300 g)
  • Carrots - 2 pcs. (300 g)
  • Onion - 2 pcs. medium size (150 g)
  • Mayonnaise
  • Apples - 1-2 pcs.
In this recipe, you will learn how to cook herring under a fur coat. Traditional Russian salad, an integral part of the New Year's table.

The recipe for herring under a fur coat

First, cook carrots, beets and potatoes.

Cool vegetables and clean.

Finely chop the onion (if you have a bitter onion, then pour boiling water over it for 10-15 minutes, then rinse several times and the bitterness will disappear).

Separate the herring meat from unnecessary parts (bones, fins, etc.), if using herring fillet, then simply cut into small pieces.

Take a fine grater and grate potatoes, beets and carrots.

Peel the apples and grate on a medium grater.

Take a flat dish and put the potatoes in an even layer on the bottom and brush with mayonnaise.

Put herring on potatoes and brush with mayonnaise as well.

Put the onion on the herring, and the carrot on the onion and brush again with mayonnaise.

Now lay out the apples, remembering to use mayonnaise.

Put the beets on the top layer and smooth.
