- Rice - 1 tbsp.
- Tomato juice - 2 tbsp.
- Salt and pepper (ground black) - to taste
- Vegetable oil
- Garlic - 3 cloves
- Tomatoes - 400 g.
- Basil - 4-5 branches.
This light and lean dish is perfect both for a festive table and as a lunch side dish.
Recipe for rice in tomato sauce

The rice is poured with tomato juice, and brought to a boil, covered with a lid, and left to cook with a small flame until it is completely cooked. Salting about 5 minutes before the end of cooking.

To prepare the sauce, garlic is crushed and tomatoes are peeled, after scalding their skins with boiling water. After that, the tomatoes and garlic are laid out in a frying pan and, adding a little oil, it is fried for several minutes, after which it is salted and peppered to the taste of the cook.

When the vegetables are almost ready, finely chopped basil is added to them, and after mixing the sauce is removed from the stove.

With the prepared sauce, without separating the pieces of tomatoes, pour over the rice, mix and serve.
