Lent is a serious test for the body. But there is no reason to fall into culinary asceticism and completely refuse sweets. Moreover, baked apples are the most lean dessert. The recipe is simple, but unhurried, but it pays for patience a hundredfold. And while the apples are languishing in the oven, the house is filled with the aroma of comfort and spices.

Recipe for baked apples in spicy syrup with nuts

1

Combine honey, sugar and lemon juice in a small saucepan. Add 150 ml of water and spices, cook over medium heat for 4-5 minutes. Remove from fire and set aside.

2

Peel the apples, leaving a little on top.

3

Line a heat-resistant tray with high sides with parchment. Pour in the spicy syrup and put the apples in it. Pour apples with syrup and put in an oven preheated to 210 ° C for 50 minutes.

4

Every 10 minutes, take out and baste the apples with syrup. If the syrup thickens, pour some water into the tray. Sprinkle browned baked apples with nuts and serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
